North Shore Seafoods commitment to “Buy Alaskan Seafood”

At North Shore Seafoods, we believe in maintaining Alaskan seafood as a resource for generations to come, which is why we are committed to only providing our customers with naturally sourced, sustainably harvested seafood.

What is Sustainability?

Alaska has long been a leader in sustainably harvested seafood. In fact, when Alaska became a state in 1959, it was written in its state constitution that "fish…be utilized, developed and maintained on the sustained yield principle." No harvesting methods can threaten either a species or an ecosystem. Since then, these methods have proven successful; no species of Alaskan seafood has ever been endangered. The key to this success is the recognition of seafood as a long term asset both for the state and the world. Long term sustainability is never by-passed for short term economic gain.
